UH, the Banshee has a 348cc twin engine, not an 175cc twin. The Banshee may oly have 6mph over the 400EX in top speed, but the Banshee gets to that top speed faster. As everyone has said, the 400EX is much better as a trail rider and jumper, but the Banshee does alright as well. I'm not praising one or the other, both are awesome quads. There is no #1 quad, but there's a quad out there to fit your needs, whether it is a Banshee, 400EX, or Rancher. Just my 2 cents as a froemr Yamaha/now Honda quad owner.

yeah check that throttle increase when you turn the handlebars all the way, one way or another, or you'll get a BIG surprise when you're in a tight situation some day!!!

I'd say the YAMAHA WOLVERINE is the best all-around quad ever built, it has 350cc's, has over 7" of suspension travel, is 4-wheel-drive, light, has racks, etc. it can run and jump with the sport bikes, and mud and hill climb with the 4x4's

ok...the wolverine is NOT the all around best.a 300 or 400 ex would even be better all around.and thats off the top of my head

I don't know why everyone is complaining about the best quad ever when the answer is very simple. It is the TRX250R, it is the best ever and will be for a long time. It's OVERALL performance is unmatched! Just read the shootouts, especially the one with the DS, Banshee, 400 and the 250R. The new issue of 4 wheel action says that the 250R is better even in the woods. Most racers also prefer the 250R. It is just an awesome machine. Sure, the Banshee may be faster on the top, or the 400 easier in the woods(I doubt it though), but all around the R is the best hands down!

I figured I would get into this discussion. I have to say that the trx250R is the ultimate quad. 3 of my friends had them and they were awesome. But i said they had them each of them now has 426ex's and they love them. One of my other friends has a banshee w/ pipes and k&n filter. I have an 86' LT which is fairly modified. In a drag the ex's jump out front but me and the banshee catch them, and it is pretty much dead even. It is a great race to watch because the winner is usually the guy who shifts better it is so close. But i have to say that my 2500 dollar LT hangs with the 6000 dollar plus quads. I also raced a ds650 and smoked it but the rider was pretty poor and he wouldn't let anyone else race me on it so i don't know about them. Now on the trails the ex's are awesome, my LT is pretty nice because it has good low end. The banshee climbs the hills the fastest but, it sucks on tight trails. On the motocross track i can generally hang with the ex's but my LT wears me out way more than th ex's do when i ride them. the banshee is no match on the track i can't explain it it's just slower. I can't wait to see what is out there within the next year I might have to jump on the 4-stroke band wagon. But it will just be great when you open up an atv magazine and they have a shootout with sports quads that are actually being produced. Well that's my two cents

You guys say a Banshee can't jump that well? well check out Huevos Grandes, and you'll see Matt Coulter make a HUGE leap with that BANSHEE frame. Or just go to the dunes and you will see them flying there.
