Default Honda Oddyssey questions

I'm looking at buying an odyssey for my kids to replace a lil LT80. Anyhow do all of these have suspension or are there machines out there without? which years to buy or avoid? I'm thinking an FL250 should be adequate or ??? I've seen several locally advertised for very decent prices but I dont want to buy something that they wont have any fun with. I've never ridden or really paid any attention to odysseys before, any help would be appreciated. Also is the FL350 the same as a pilot? I've looked at later pilots and they look like a serious machine.

FL350 was the beginning of the odyssey's with rear suspension and reverse in 1985. The pilot is a 400 motor as opposed to the 350. All prior to 85 are the 250 motor. Get an 85 or above. I owned earlier years and they weren't that much fun without the rear suspension.

The FL350 is probably the way to go if you find a decent one. The 400 pilot's fetch alot of money.

FL250's ride rough, the suspension is how much air is in the tires. FL350 had real suspension and rode much better, but were problematic and recall (i mean major like engine\tran) ridden and discontinued after i think 1 year. I've never ridden the Pilot, but I hear they're a blast.

I had a late '70's Odyssey when I was a teenager. It had a 250cc air cooled 2-stroke engine, no rear suspension, trailing j-arm up front. It was a blast to drive but it was often hard to start and I kept blowing out the rear tires. If I remember right, it seems like I couldn't run it for more than a half hour or so before it got real hot in the back of the seat. It was a good machine for spinning donuts and power sliding.

I own 2 FL250 odyessy's they are a blast. they are 1984. They have a straight axle in the back so the arent that godd at steering. We have rolled ours so many times and have not ruined a thing yet. They dont have any suspension in the back. The ground clearence is low, 5". You can buy alot of aftermarket parts for them though.

Odysseys are pretty fun to drive. They do ride rough, but are better than most go karts with no suspension at all. They can be a pain in the butt to start. The pull rope is a big pain to pull unless you are pretty strong. when I was 14 years old, I could only start it when the motor was still warm from riding. If you ever do decide to get an odyssey, I've got a bunch of spare parts I need to unload(PM me for details)
