Default Next steps after a pipe, jet, rev box, K&N filter??

I recently purchaced a 00 400ex off a buddy of mine. I got a great deal on it and I have some extra cash left over to hop it up a little more. It currently has a full Big Gun exhaust system, a K&N filter system, jetted carb (not sure what size jet yet), and Rev box. I want to take the next step to make it a little faster but I cant decide which to do. I think I am to the point where it is going to require several things that go hand in hand. Like piston, head work and a cam. If i could get some info on what would be the next best step that would be great! If you could include approximate costs that would be great too!
Thanks
Ryan

I have everything you have. The next thing I'm going to do is the 416. There are different levels to the 416 kit. I'm going to do the simplest, bore, piston, and cam. Bore is $50, piston is $90, gaskets is $20, cam is $150-$200. I think I'm going to mail my cylinder to Marcums in Florida and they bore it and send you their kit for $165. That includes the gaskets, piston, new valve seals, and the bore. They also sell the XR cam their for $139, I think. Some people get their head port and polished when they do the 416, $200-?. Some also get a carb, $450. For increase in power, make sure you get a high compression piston, 11:1. And definetly get the cam. For more responses, go to Exriders.com

I have heard from alot of 400EX owners that the XR cam was a pile of ____ they said it didn't do a whole lot for power....some of them have gone with a hot cams stage 2 cam and have been very pleased with that.

I honestly don't know what the actual HP gain would be but just riding it youcan really feal a difference, the front wheels are always in the air.

On the hotcams site is says you have to press something on. What is this? Is there any other way to do it? And how much will it cost?

Its the cam gear flange. You have to press it off the stock cam and press it on the Hotcam. You have to do this with most performance cams, but not all. I just bought a new flange, $20, so I didn't have to press it off the old cam. Getting it pressed off and on shouldn't be that much, $20 at the most I would think.

Yes, but in the instructions it says you have to be careful when pressing it on because the flange is easy to break.
