Default Why is Honda the best on earth?

I have had several 4 wheelers and I've come to think Honda's are the best. They are over-engineered, they are detuned (with rev limiters) and always seem to outlast and outwork the competition. Why do you think they are the best?

I dont know if i agree with that statement, but ive heard it stated before backed by an argument that they do LAST FOREVER, you could literally drive one for 20 years and only change the oil. My first quad was a honda 70, the little one, then i got a honda 90 dirtbike, then a TRX200SX, and that quad took years of abuse w/out any maintence.. ive had a few other honda's since then, and now i love working on my DS, but didnt wanna ever have to work on my wifes bike, so what did i buy, A HONDA!!!

Because you don't have to worry about them being in the way on fast trail rides/Dunes. LOL

The engines are eternal. That is the claim to fame. Other stuff like brakes and cables and little moving chassis parts are no better than anyone else, but their engines are built far stronger than anything else. The don't break down unless you run them out of oil and try to go riding all day. Thats pretty much it.

Haha, true, true.

Hondas are excellent for durability. They lack style though in my opinion. I can't wait until they come out with a new quad. I want to see how it does compared to the others on the market now.

This started way back in the mid to early sixties.

When My father purchased for me in 1969 a Honda Mini Trail 50 and when you started looking it over back then it was better engineered and had better quaility than the 66 Oldsmobile and 69 Chevy truck in my parents garage.

Mr. Honda saw how Americans produced machines and wanted to do it one step or more better.

America has caught up but Honda earned the reputation many years ago.

This is another major factor. When quads first came around in the mid 80's, Honda made a first rate quality machine that would take a beating and still come through trouble free. The TRX200 in 84 followed by the 250fourtrax in 85-87 proved to be tougher than the first offerings from yamaha, kawasaki, and suzuki. Then they dropped the 300 fourtrax in 1988 which is the best selling utility of all time, and probably features the most reliable engine ever put in a quad.

Take a look at the utility quads of 1985. Honda had their 250 which was solid, stable, and as large as any, with a good ride for that time. Yamaha was sitting on a 200 with a rigid (none) suspension. Kawasaki had a measly 185 lacking rear shocks (though soon thereafter the Bayou 300 arrived- another time tested quad). And Suzuki's entire line of chain driven utilities were less than spectacular and famous for having an extremely light front end that made it prone to flipping backwards.

Of course, by this time, they already had a good reputation going with their 3 wheelers anyway.
