Default 14 tooth front sprocket

Hey guys, I ordered my 14 tooth sprocket for my 400ex. Is there anything I need to watch out for while changing the sprocket. Also I would like comments about rather you liked or disliked the 14 tooth. I'm just changing mine to play around and to see what kind of difference it makes.

Its a funny thing, going down on my stock 400 to a 14 tooth sprocket didn't really slow the top speed down. It gave it a lot better pull in 2nd and third gear trail riding though. Seemed like it would rev higher and better in top gear with the 14 tooth over the 15. Haven't had that problem with my 440 though and will probably stay with the stock gearing. In fact, as far as quick and cheap mods, thats the first thing I would do to get a very noticable difference if I wasn't going to up the power any(even an aftermarket pipe doesn't pull the 15 as good).

I have both a 14 and a 16 and because my tires are only like 18.5" tall I prefer stock. But with stock height tires it would be perfect i just thought with my tires it was too low with the 14 tooth.

Default 14 tooth front sprocket

I just put the 14 tooth sprocket on tonight and rode it around the yard. I think I am really going to like it. It pulls the wheels in 2nd and third much easier. 1st wines-out a little bit faster than I would like but 2nd and 3rd I think will be perfect for the trails. I am going to Wayne National Forest this weekend with my buddy who just bought a Z. I think that will be the real test as to rather I will like it or not.
I was thinking of trying out the 16 tooth also. How did or do you like it Yellowexracer? I am all stock right now. Thanks agian for your input!!!

I like it for road ridding and open spaces but you can feel the loss in power even with my shorter tires. If you can find one cheap it's worth a try. I think i only pasid about $10 CAN for mine new.

you also have to remove the chain cover and case guard
