How much do you want to pay for a winch? Do you want a switch mounted on the quad, wired remote or key chain remote? Also, what size winch do you think you want? 1500, 2000, 2500, or 3000lb.?

Get a warn winch. The size depends on what you are doing. If your only using it to pull yourself out of mud hole you shouldn't need a real big one.

Myself I have the Warn 2000. There has been no situation that I haven't been able to get out of yet.

I have been looking at the warn 2500 lbs. I can get one for $285, but I still have to pay for mount plates and to have it installed. Is that a fair price for a warn 2500lb winch? Thanks for the help

Buy a warn winch they are the best and yes the 2000lb got replaced with the 2500lb the other thing is check into the price of the switch able plates that let you mount the winch in the front or the back cause most of the time I don't back into mud holes I try to drive through them with the winch in front and no where or one to hook to

I know a lot of people pooh-pooh Superwinches, but I purchased a 2000lb Superwinch a year ago at Farm & Fleet for $149. I then found an Oxlite aluminum bumper with a winch mount on Ebay for about $50 and I have a whole setup for about $200. I don't have to use the winch often but when I do need it I know it's there and will always work for me. I really couldn't see spending twice the money on a Warn winch when this one will do the job.
If you want a picture just let me know and I'll email you one.
My $.02.

$149. seems like a real good price for a 2000lb. Superwinch. I had a hard time finding a mount for a Recon so I got a CMP. If you look at Superwinch.com it'll show the 2000lb. winch. If you go to Rockymountainatv.com they had CMP mounts for $60. (although it says $74.99 in catalog) They offer the Tusk 2000 lb. winch that seems to be exactly like the Superwinch except for the switch. "RM" sells the Tusk for $109.99 plus s/h. Tusk is a Rockymtn. brand name. They also have some bumpers.
