BUILDING ONE FROM THE GROUND UP

Has anyone ever built a quad from the ground up. I know that there is enough after market stuff out there to build a 250r from the ground up, just wondered if anyone had done this. let us know what you did and how it turned out.

It can be done... but it is very, very expensive! You might as well use a different engine than the TRX250R, too. Newer, more powerful engines are out there. I believe that some of the KTM enduro 2-strokes are even counterbalanced.

Oh, I'm not going to do it I just bought a 400 I just wondered if anyone else had built one. I can't spending alot of money to build one when I can put that money into making my jump higher and farther at insane speeds.

Sure have. Just built one this past winter based on the Roll chassis for GNCC. Every piece on it is brand new, except for a few gears in the tranny. A lot of the parts were purchased through sponsorship pricing and we still have close to $20,000 in it.

I have done this 3 times. I did two JP's and one Leager 250r's. When we did it, we took a old quad and striped parts from it. It helps to have a quad to strip parts from, that way you don't have to call a junk yard to get the little parts, that you might forget to order. After you get it together, it will take 2 or more months of riding to get the bugs and everything working correctly. Best of luck.

It may be expensive, but I think if you were gonna build a national race machine it would be the way to go. The way I see it, eventually if you are a serious racer you will replace everything stock (almost) with aftermarket so if you are gonna do that anyway...why not do it to start with instead of get a stock one and then spend even more? I have a friend getting ready to build a 300EX like this, he is buying a motor and frame and everything else will be aftermarket. We figured out it will cost around 6grand, but thats only 1thousand more than a stock one and he will have aftermarket everything.

A freind of mine built 2 qauds like this one for XC and one for MX he has pual turner national kits in both of them complete leagers frame and suspension componites works shocks the only thing stock on both is the tranny,overflow tank,and the little bushings where the seat holds onto.
