types fo winches
#1
I been doing alot of searching on tpyes of winch. I have looked at Superwinches,Ramsey, and Waen winches. dose it really matter what type of winch you buy, as long as it gets the job done? thanks

It really doesn't matter. Some people might feel better buying more expensive winches because they're supposed to be better. Certain winches might offer certain things that others do not. Ramsey has the key chain remote and I think that Ramsey makes them for other models like Warn and Superwinch. It also may depend on how often you're going to use it and how heavy your quad is. Just make sure that the winch you pick will handle the job.

okay first let me say coyotechaser, at first money is not the problem, but now it is. so I am looking to spend between $250-275 for winch and mount plates. I found a winch on the net for 179.00 and 79.00 for the mount plates. The winch is a superwinch 2000lb. I can order it from a company out of apopka,Fl. It is 258.00 for the plate and winch. It is I will have to order them at different times. so that my problem. jerms thanks for your help. yes I would like to see a pic. Thank you

BigRed,
Let me take some new pictures tomorrow because I have raised the bumper higher on my quad for better ditch-bustin' clearance since my last pics were taken. Let me say one other thing, and that is you really should get a roller fairlead instead of the standard fairlead. It'll greatly reduce the wear on your cable and will make it easier to winch yourself out of those mudholes when you have to hook up to a tree off to the side of the trail.

You also might want to check out http://www.atvgear.com/winches.htm concerning their winches. They have a Cycle Country 2000lb for $189.99, but they also offer a winch mount INCLUDING a roller fairlead for $79.99 (look in the "blemished" section of their catalog). They offer free shipping except to Alaska and Hawaii as well, so that sounds like a good deal. I don't know for sure, but it looks to me like Cycle Country simply put their name on a Superwinch winch. Has anyone else had any experience with these winches?
BTW, I've never dealt with this company before, but I just happened across it while searching for some info on a snow plow and thought I'd pass it along.
