is it possible for the new 450EX to run with the big dogs?
we all know the Predator's, DS650's, Raptor's, and V-Force's are really all in the same ballpark as far as acceleration goes (stock vs stock)...
I'm just wondering if Honda's new 450EX will be up to par with that kind of power.... I mean, it's gonna be a big step for the little 450cc motor.... but then again, Cannondale did it... their 440 moto could hold it own against the big bores, so I know it's possible, the real question is how high-strung will Honda let this motor be??? I do not have high hopes, because in the past Honda liked to keep their motors low-strung for dependability.... Yamaha has probably achieved the best low-strung / high HP combination by using a severely detuned 660 motor, but the weight and height of the 660 motor has impacted the quads handling with a high center of gravity...
no doubt the new Honda will handle with the best of them... I just hope it will run with the best of them too

The one people have herd about from their special sorces for the past 4 years. It is going to be released at the same time as Suzukis new 450 and KTMs new 450.( J/K )Untill I see it, I have a hard time guessing how something is going to preform that doesn't exist.

I saw this figure on another site. 55hp in 58pound engine. That is what is in the CRF450R Motorcross bike. I'm sure it would have to be detuned for a quad though. That figure could be wrong, I'm just going on what I heard. Even though that motor in an ex frame would probably kill every other quad out there! Hope I could help.

Is it possible? Sure, anything is possible and the 450 engine is a nice peice of work but.....
There is no 450ex quad. Besides, if there was it would be really detuned just like every other engine that went from a bike to a quad.

As long as they dont detune that motor too much. It should be faster than all the big dogs. 55hp in a lighter bike. How is a raptors 37hp in a big poopy heavy frame going to keep up?
Most likely the hp figures will probably be around 45hp. Thats my guess anyways. Still higher than the big boys stock. Now after they are beefed up to the max, thats where those extra cc's will come in. The crf450 motor is not suffocated like the raptor 660.

if ya want a true 450ex and still want 55hp and dont want to wait years for honda to realese it why not just buy a crf450 motor of ebay and slap it in a 400ex and stick some 450 stickers on it[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
