Win. Mod. 70 Classic 30-06 SS
I am planning on buying a Win. Mod. 70 Classic Composite Stock, Stainless Steel in 30-06 caliber. I will be using this rifle for mooose and deer. Is the Winchester 70 a decent rifle? Any problems with it? Any information would be greattly appreciated. Thanks ......MJSTX

i really like winchester. if it's a controlled feed, the claw extractor. im not much on their push feed models, but everyone has their own opinion. the 30/06 will work fine for what your hunting, just pay attention & aim well on the moose. anyway, you just can't go wrong with winchester.

The Winchester is a good gun. I'd would go for the 300 WSM though. About the same recoil but with more power-- Flatter trajectery--longer range as well as a little more versatile. Also a little more accurate cartrage. Don't wast your money on a cheap scope though as it can make a good gun look bad. Try to get a leupold or a nikon. What ever you can afford. Of the cheapies the Bushnells are not to bad. There are a lot of quality scopes but more expensive. The 30-06 is a fine cartrage though and will get the job done. Good luck and good hunting. Oh a longer barrel will add a little more velocity over a short barrel.
