Ohio Bow is in .. Ohio Gun will be in the week after Thanksgiving....Usually go to WVA the week of Thanksgiving for deer gun,,
Do you guys ride your quad into the woods depending on how far down in the hollows you hunt? Where I hunt in Ohio, you can retrieve your deer with your quad, but cannot take it inot the woods unless needed, or you are handicapped...

Right now bow and black powder are in.
Taking a quad into the woods depends on where the people are hunting. If it is on private land then you can do whatever you want. If it is on Game Lands then the handicapped are allowed to use a quad for hunting. I'm not sure if just anyone can use an atv to get a downed deer. It seems like it would open it up for alot of lies. I usually park the quad away from me because an atv smells like gas, oil, etc..

Rifle opened here yesterday. Got up on about 20 cows down low, and beat the whole area up to the ridge, no bulls. There's a couple of biggies in our area but they're pretty much done bugling & temps need to cool down some. My partner and I dragged a couple of flatlanders with us, one from Wisconsin and one from Florida, it almost killed them going up these mountains. They tried hard though. My son has a cow tag so we'll work on filling that this next couple weeks. Shot a bunch of pheasants a couple of weeks ago, my new dog worked out great.

I do not hunt as much as I used to. But this fall I managed to go to my hunting cabin in Northern Quebec for a week with my wife. I saw 5 mooses over 3 days. None of them was a buck. I could have bagged a calf, but i decided to let it go. I guess I was influenced by my wife : she thinks they are so cute... Seeing 5 of them over 3 days is very unusual and was very exciting (seeing one during the hunting season is already good....) Maybe I will go get my two caribous around Christmas if I can find the time... For the last 20 years or so, it used to be that we needed to get our moose every year or I was disappointed. Now, I do not try as hard, but I appreciate it more. Athough now that I think about it : I should have bagged the calf........
