nice deer. But when they say the largest deer taken in the state, they are obviously talking about the rack's final score, not body mass. At 200 lbs, he is a good size deer. But I have heard and seen of a few in Southern MN that were in that weight range, including my first buck after 23 years of hunting. 95Wolv, that one in Iowa is the new world record. It was supposedly taken by a 15 year old kid with a muzzleloader during the youth season, but when I took my deer to the processors on Saturday they said that the dad is being investigated as for being the one who actually shot it. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes if they determine it was him instead of his kid since it was the youth-only season.
The dad found the buck's shed antlers from last year and when he took them to Cabela's they told him they'd give him a million dollars if he brought the buck in. It is reported that they have now offered them $1.2 million, unless, I suppose, it's determined that the dad shot it.
