I'm still considering a Gun Boot but for now I am using the IPI forks with the rubber fins that the rifle rides on, they're very cushy. So far so good.

As for loss of zero on the scopes...what kind of scopes are you guys losing your zero with? I've had a rifle do to somersaults in the air after being catapulted by my partner and his dropped tailgate. I watched that rifle (Ruger M77) hit scope first (Leupold Vari-X III) and it was still shooting 3/4 MOA when I tested it. Never had a Leupold wander off zero, maybe I'm just lucky.

As for stuff getting in the muzzle....you guys should buy some things called "Finger Cots" at your local drug store. They look like little tiny, tiny condoms....some of you might have used them for that j/k....they're actually for protecting your fingers from moisture if you have stitches or something. Slip one of those (or even a tiny baloon) over the crown of your muzzle. It will keep mud, snow, crunge, etc., out of your barrel and it blows off before the bullet gets out of the barrel. I've been using them for years and have never had crud in the barrel. Even electrical tape works for that too.

2 ways for me to carry a firearm. 1 is in a hard plastic gun boot mounted on the back rack. the other way is in the hard plastic box on front of bike, but this is for my folding shotgun and ruger 10/22 with a folding butler creek stock. both are also lockable with a padlock.

Any ideas on sidearm carry? It seems that a "tactical holster" or drop leg style would be the best as I carry a 1911. The two legged animals are more dangerous than the four here in the piedmont region of NC. Any ideas on pistol carry would be appreciated.

If you want to Pack that 1911 off of your person, Ram-Mount systems has an adjustable mount that handle a holster. I think it is viewable on Cabela's site under their ATV Accessories section.

Up here in Alaska when I am out riding around I carry a 12 gauge in my Kolpin gun boot, and a .44mag on my hip. You never know when a grizzly will be hungry for some food!!!! Gun boot works great, I would not want to take a change on having my gun scratched.

You're absolutely right. My match guns get carried in Airglides. Perfect cases, IMHO.

Haven't used one on my quad, but then I don't carry on it very often. Usually just sling my utility gun on my back for farm/coyote duty.
