270 for wooded dear hunting
I purchased my gun last year. I considered the 270WSM and when it cmae down to deciding I went with the regular 270 in a Browning A-bolt. To me I just couldn't justify spending the extra bucks on the wsm. I reloaded my own cartridges using 130 gr. and am fairly close to the ballistics on paper to the wsm. I have shot 2 deer with it both under a 100 yards and both stopped in their tracks. It is a tack driver out to 200 yards. I never tried shooting any further seeing I rarely shoot 100 yards where I hunt.(Manitoulin Island). The gun has no recoil and is just a pleasure to shoot. In regards to the ballistics on paper that was comparing the Winchester pamphlet on their calibers and cartridges and the Lyman's recipe book for reloading.
