Great all around caliber, it will take any game in North America depending on the load, and there are more loads for the 30.06 that any other round.

I love my 3006. the only other big game rifle I would buy to replace it is the 7mm mag.

It will do you good, it was developed in 1906, and is a .30 caliber. That is how they came up with .30-06. Good luck hunting!

great gun.....I used one for quite a few years....

I would stay away from ballistic tip bullets though on deer. I don't think the gun has enough velocity downrange to make the bullet expand fast enough unless it hits something hard. I shot a deer right though the ribcage (double lunged it) w/o touching a rib and you couldn't even tell the deer slowed down (until it rolled end over end and came to a sliding halt when he ran outta breath). Lucky I didn't hit him in the hind quarters on my second shot!

GGRF- What kind of 30-06 will you be using?

I'm going to buy a Remington pump. I shoot with both my right and left. So, I don't want to limit myself with a right or left bolt action. I guess it would just be easier.
