Chicken gizzards? He must have given you the leg meat. The tail is the best on a gator. It helps sometimes to soak the meat in milk before you fry it, have no idea why, it's just one of those things old timers tell you.

Never gigged fish, been frog gigging a lot (taste like chicken). I like shooting carp with my bow & reel arrow, pretty fun when the fields flood.
