once you get to throwing big lead, it can be much cheaper to cast your own... I personally wouldn't mess with it for anything less the 180 - 200 grains, but on the big 45 bullets, its cost efective, & kind of fun... alot of the gun shows are now full of guy's selling bullets only, cast & otherwise... once in a while, you can get some pretty good prices, especially if you are willing to purchase 500 at a time...

I had heard of a guy doing that to a buck, & the deer nearly killed him... you get those wild animals full of adreniline, & you find out just how "unwild" we've become, as humans...

 

Well boys, the sad thing is my story is true. Moose versus truck, car, and 2 of my beers, and jpsdiving(with his trusty buck knife), moose 1 , jpsdiving 0[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] But I did manage to saw through his tough old hide and put him out of his misery.

 

well my thunderstick... the topic of this thread is complete... may get to try initial siting in this weekend... I'm thinking I'll start with 405 grain factory loads, to sight in the safari site, then try to adjust the load on a pointed cast bullet, to shoot the same spot on the target...

already working on my next "thunder stick"... another tropical Martini chambered in 50-70 gov.... if I buy the gun, I also got to buy about 400 "Dixie" cases... a few loaded with black powder, & a few with smokeless...

anyone out there shooting 50-70, got load / powder / bullet recomendations ???

 

Sounds like everyone here is into rifles. Myself I tend to favor the handguns. I do have a few rifles though, just don't do much with them.
