Default What are some good prairie dog guns?

For little game such as dogs and chipmunks i like to use a .458 win mag with a red dot. no need to find it afterwards or the branch or the tree for that matter. I have always thought the more powerfull cartridge the better off the animal is. doesnt even know what hit it. Ammo a little expensive but hey i am living off my trust fund and i have 10 million to go. what a life.

Anyone own a New England Sportster SS1-M22 22MG. I am thinking on buying one just to keep on the atv for shooting varmits. It's a cheep gun so I don't have to worry about it much in the atv. I will have to throw a scope on it. I am wondering how this gun shoots? Walmart for 103 bucks. Cheep enough for a bang around gun.

Well I know the H & R single shot I got which is now owned by Marlin has a nice barrel and is accurate for 150 bucks. The New England one you're talking about I wonder if that's a branch of the H & R line or what. If it is, pick one up, either way you don't get hurt much.

Fastblaster, funny you say that... lived in KS some years ago, loaded some hot 7mm mag. 120 gr BTHP's... were brutal to the little suckers! Good pratice for long range hunting shots. Also used the same loads with great success on deer, lung shots dropped them in their tracks, just a ton of impact and energy in them. Would not suggest for larger game, or sholder shots. Rem 700 BDL, great gun!

RobRuf, or any others. Tell me about the 220 swift, and especially in the ruger. I have chance to buy a ruger target rifle in .220 for about $350, with decent scope, 2 boxes of shell, and dies. Had one box shot through it. I have a 25-06 ruger in stainless/syn that I like. How much better does the target rifle shoot?

Thanks for the help.

Ken

I bought mine off a friend for 500 about 3 yrs ago w/ a Leupold straight 24x scope and dies and conversation for a Dillon press. I will look up my loads for it for you all but, I think 2 have been 4k plus, the heavier bullets are obviously slower. My longest shot with it is about 575. dropped right in. This is the one I have (only difference is my action is blued) Ruger

Its a great gun will shot and you will love it.
