I prefer the bow, but during gun season I use a Browning A-Bolt, Stainless Stalker in .300 Win Mag. It's great when your hunting out on the open fields in N. Dakota.

 

300 savage lever action. So far in my 4 years of hunting I have shot four deer and used four shells.

I think thats the totals so far. Hard to tell, because some named more than 1 cartridge.

I did some research on this caliber before I got it. It has great energy, velocity, and excellent tragectory. It is a fairly new round that probably won't get too popular. I do kind of prefer some of the oddballs though. It isnalso big and powerfull for your average whitetail, but hopefully in the future I'll get to hunt bigger game.

AD- do you think all the cartridges that are out now are going to stay out for quite some time or even forever? because i want the 300 rem. ultra magnum to stick around. what do you think?

 

I use a .270 Browning A bolt. I am using 130grain bullets. Very accurate cartridge. I would think it has to be one of the best all round cartridges out their for deer. Surprised on this forum not many people using it.
