My first saw was an old Mac that a friend had in his shop. He said if I could get it to run give him $20. That old thing would rattle itself apart. Got out in the woods and got into the middle of a load of wood when i had to tighten everything up. Ended up losing some parts. Got all PO'ed. Went and bought a Husky. Never a bit of problem with that. I will say that the Stihls seem to start a bit easier though.

My brother got a 044 Stihl last week, we used it Saturday. Wow, what a hog! Ran 5 tanks of gas through it and it never missed a beat in the slightest. I told him we could be on a Stihl commercial Saturday, we had that 044, two farm bosses, an old 031, and a 036 pro, plus a bottle of stihl bar/chain oil.

I see I got to this thread a little late, but has anybody here ever used a John Deere saw? I have one with a 16" bar, starts on the first or second pull every time, and cuts like a charm. I love it, so much in fact it even has it's own holder on the back of my fourwheeler!

I've had nothing but STIHLs for the last 20 years. Cut 20 cords of firewood each year and worked in the woods for a living.

My current saw is an 036 PRO with a 16" bar. Many think that the 16" bar is too short, but it cuts down any tree 36" and under. Gives the saw more power not having to spin that extra chain

I have two saws, a Bow and a bar..both are Homelite, and I have been through 5 hurricanes in the last 8 years, and they still work fine,no problems. The bow saw is a good addition ,and makes the tree clearing much easier. The saws thats used here by timber companys the most are Huskys..
