Been bow hunting for about 17 years now I believe. Shooting a Hoyt superslam for the past decade it seems
Thinking about upgrading this year, but the prices scare me since my old superslam hasn't let me done.

I have been bow hunting for 6 years now and absolutely love it. I am looking for another good place to put up a stand, so if anybody has room, let me know. I didn't even gun hunt this year!!

I started hunting with the bow back in 1999 and I'm definitely hooked....I shoot a PSE with all the Sims vibration goodies, Gold Tip Pro Hunter carbons with Wasp Jackhammers...Once I started bowhunting, I pretty much hunt with it right through rifle season...A friend on mine owns apple orchards and gets the nuissance permits for deer so that's when I bring out the cannon....Those permits begin after deer season ends....I have to agree 100% with RedGoblin about getting good and be serious about shooting the bow.......We owe that to the animals to make it a quick harvest......Luckily, I've only lost one deer, and I'll tell ya what, I wish I totally missed rather than make a bad shot...It really took some mental training after that loss to get my confidence back up to make the next shot.......The one thing I know for sure is that you can be an awesome target shooter but nothing prepares you for actually drawing on a deer other than experience.....Time in the woods is so very important.....Probably one of the most important factors is being able to judge distance.....Scout before the season and walk off distances from your tree, hang small orange ribbons at designated distances....Distance may appear much differently from up in your tree........Happy shooting....

I started bow hunting in 1986. I only use my bow to hunt elk, bull's only. Some years I hunt elk with a rifle and other years I use my bow. Just depends on the time I have to dedicate to practicing with the bow. I already have two weeks of vacation approved for archery elk hunting this year. Last month I upgraded my bow. I'm now shoothing a new 2005 Hoyt UltraTec. I tried the Bow Tech's but they didn't feel natural in my hand. I used to shoot fingers up until the purchase of the new bow. Damn, all the add ons, release, rest, sight, quiver, were expensive little buggers. I figure this bow will last me the rest of my elk hunting days so I bought mostly top of the line equipment.

Although I altered my 5 pin Cobra sight so that the two provided red sight pins are on the bottom of the stack, to be used for 50 and 60 yard shots, I would love to buy a sight that provides 5 very bright sight pins that are green and yellow only. The red ones are difficult to see in low light conditions.

I archery hunt. I'm not particularly rabid about it like some guys are. At least not anymore. In fact some of the more rabid elements of the archery scene annoy the ever living crap out of me. I've gone though all the phases of it. I've done everything from the compounds using releases and mechanical arrowheads from my own home made bows with hand made arrows and arrowheads along with modern and primitive crossbows.

I'm not picky about compounds. I hunted for years with an old olive drab Bear compound and killed more deer with it than probably any other bow I've ever owned. It is still in the basement. Broke the strings and the pulleys were shot. Heck, I've probably got a half a dozen or more in the basement with busted strings and bad pulleys and the like. I never buy new anymore. I just go find another used one. I'm forever finding used ones. I picked up a nearly new PSE for next to nothing in December that fits me and I can shoot pretty well so I'll probably give it a shot next season. I really like the way it shoots. I don't think I'm even going to shoot recurve next year. I'd much rather just shoot crossbow. I enjoy it much more.

Geez 7 deer Red Goblin? Does the guy even practice at all? I think that is as bad as I've ever heard of. I mean a few of weeks of practice in the backyard of an evening can get you proficient enough to kill a deer at a reasonable distance if you have any sort of archery aptitude at all. Maybe he needs actual lessons or something.

I have bowhunted every year for the past 35. Bowhunting is kind of a way of life for me. Most of the bows I use I make and I like them short. My choice for arrows is POC. Mostly I bowhunt deer but Ive also hunted bear, elk, hogs, goats, caribou, turkey and all kinds of small game. In my opinion any one who wounds 7 deer in one season should have his bow burnt they have no business in the woods.

hello all! i never thought id ever get into bow hunting, it seemed impossable to see or even get a deer within 30 yards of me. now with seven years (started when i was 19) of bow hunting i cant get enough. the first year i went everyweekend i could, and as i was thinking theres no way i would ever get one, they would litteraly walk right under my stand. blew me away. its a very exciting sport, and enjoy and look forward to it every year. here in missouri it starts september 15th till january 15th. with my job,( PDR hail technician) i work seasonal so i get every winter off and get to go out there and sling some arrows. ill never put my bow away!

Did any one get any big trophys this past year? i got a doe, then shot an 8 point 3 minutes later. nothing major.

Nothin' better than bow huntin'!

I go gun hunting and I'm lucky to see a buck within 100 yards, shooter or not and no 100 yards isn't a problem.

The last 5 (4 bucks & 1 doe) I've shot with the bow have been within 10 yards! I love it when they are right close.

The 9pt in my pics is from this past year and was hot on the trail of a bobcat when he spotted me putting down the camera (I was gonna take a pic of the bobcat til I saw the buck) and grabbing my bow. We had a stare down for a couple minutes til he lost interest in me and his thoughts went back to the bobcat, then I wrecked his day but made mine since he was my biggest bow buck so far.

The bobcat didn't come out to good either, the neighbor guy got him in December....48 lbs....maybe I should have passed on the buck and took the cats picture....hhmmm....naahh. I don't know, check out my pics, the buck or a pic of a bobcat...you decide.

Pastor, I shot my friends new Tribute the other day and at 20 yards I did my first Robinhood. He just got the bow a week or two ago and he did his first Robinhood with it to. I know you said you were going to get the Tomkat but damn that Tribute is nice. When I was in the market for a new bow back in Jan. I shot the Bowtechs but they just didn't feel as good as the Hoyt's so I bought a Hoyt. Now the Tribute fits my hand almost as comfortable as the Hoyt. Don't know why but it does. If I don't pick up a Tribute later this year then next year I will most likely buy the Tribute and the Hoyt will become my backup bow.
