moose plow choice
Im looking for some input from snowplowers. Im buying a used polaris 330 magnum or 400 sportsman next week while on vacation in Vermont. I searched and read every post about plowing and plows.I have a 400' long gravel driveway(part of it is a steep hill). Is the country plow a waste of money for a machine this size? Is a 60" blade to big for a 330cc machine? Some of our snow in CT is wet and sloppy. Thanks in advance.

I have a 60" Warn plow on a Kawasaki P360 and it works fine in most situtations. Be careful of weight though. The moose plow is very heavy compared to some others and that weight can work against the ATV once the blade is set on the ground. If the blade weights an extra 20 or 30 lbs. then that is just that much less snow you can push before spinning out. You have to pick the right balance between weight and durability for your use.
As a suggestion, you might lean towards the 400 for the extra power.

I use a 50" Moose plow on a 450 Foreman and I love it. My plowing needs are about 250 feet and it is also gravel driveway and I never had any problem with the plow. I think the fact that it is heavy means that it was built using stronger (thicker) steel and that is good when you are talking about moving some material useing brute force. I had hit rocks (NEVER on purpose) in such bad way that it stopped me and nothing ever broke or got bent. I would think that is worth the tradeoff for the added weight that you know it is a strong piece of equipment.
