Default Hunting from an ATV

Deer count this year for the 12 hunters in my group stands at one 15 pointer, two 10 pointers, a 9, two 8, a 7, 6, 5, and a button buck and six does. We used atv's this year as we have in the past. It is legal in Mn to use an atv from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and after dark. Yeah; we coulda dragged them out by hand but dragging deer for nearly a mile thru water, mud, grass, etc serves no purpose when we have machines that can do the work. Dragging by hand would have taken away from the hunt and caused unnecessary damage to the meat.

We have found the handiest way to get a deer out of the woods is to roll it onto a cheap plastic sled and pull it out with our ATV. It keeps the blood off of your bike and is easy to load; simple and cheap.

Default Hunting from an ATV

I live in Indiana, and hunt private land. I am 54 years old and my knees are pretty much gone. I do use my atv to help me get a deer out of the woods. I have even starting using it to get back part way to my stands as I am hunting a pretty good piece back in the section and as I mentioned y knoees just wont alow me to do what i could when i was younger. I sure dont want to quit hunting and as I hunt alone most of the time, my atv is my "best friend" on many of the days i am in the woods. I killed the buck in the picture with my atv hidden away about 15 yards from me covered in an old army camo betting. Sure made getting him back to the truck a lot easier! Name: IM000466.jpg

HemiGoody,
Nice deer and ATV. I am in my sixties and for the first time this year, I had to hunt from my ATV. I use to be able to walk a short distance from it, but no more. When I use to hunt close to my ATV, I never covered it up and once shot a deer while I was putting my gear back on my red ATV; guess it depends on the deer. My last two ATV's have been camo though; no use pushing my luck. A lot of us would have to stop hunting if it weren't for these ATV's.

The Rhino sure is handy and I will use it or my Grizzly either one depending on where I am hunting.
