I have started doing research on using a hydraulic cylinder to adjust the angle of a snow plow blade. I see that there are a couple companies that make this type of unit. I am wondering what kind of hydraulic pump they use and where can i get one?

 

What would you mount the pump to? Or are you looking for the whole setup/tank, pump, valve, electric motor?

 

it would have to be the whole setup including an electric motor to drive the pump.

 

You could check with www.twin-hydraulics.com they have same day e-mail from what I have found. I get hoses from there. I know those 12VDC units are a bit expensive.

 

Stay away from the eagle power angle. Mine lasted 1/2 way through third job and hit seam in pavement and pulled cylinder into 2 pieces. I have heard they have a design flaw. I had opportunity to buy a new one for less than half price. I did not buy it. I fabricated a power angle with the pure polaris winch that is used to raise and lower blade. The one that is mounted to the blade pushtube. I bought it off e-bay 2 years ago. I mounted the winch sideways between moose push tubes a couple pulleys, a couple springs, a couple turnbuckles and some aircraft cable and voila power angle. It has been bulletproof for past couple years. It is designed to hold blade angle in place using the factory pin. When you raise the blade a spring disengages the factory angle pin. The winch changes angle of blade then when the blade is lowered it pulls angle pin into hole to lock blade angle. The winch is not designed to handle "shock" loads so if the pin did not hold blade angle it would gut the winch the first time the edge of the blade caught on something. I have about $110 invested in mine and it is worth every penny. It is a huge time saver. If you want I can try to send you some pictures. I can also walk you through the process because there are a couple of things that have to be a certain way.
