For the best possible flight I align my vanes with the blades on the broadhead. Set the arrow downs on a flat surface and tighten the broadhead until the blades on both sides align with the vanes. Then I use the tiniest bit of that blue bonding stuff. I forget the name of it.

 

THanks for the replies...I may have a store put on harder vanes... but the carbon arrows (full metal jackets by Easton) were only $10 or less a peice (cut with insert installed), hope the vanes are less than that to have them replace!! It appears that one of the bottom vanes or both is rubbing off the paint on the WB arrow rest. But the arrow is level when sitting in the WB, so not sure there?!?!

 

dont set knock high with a wb! it needs to be level! how do you know you got it level? did you use a bow square? are you sure your arrows are spined correctly? you would be amazed what a overspined or underspined arrow does coming out of the bow.

 

I put a bubble level on the upright line were you hook the release to and get that plumb first then put a bubble level on the arrow with it hooked to the line. The arrows came with the vanes on them from Easton, that should be right or what??

 

if you kept the bow level then it should be close, you know that hole where you screw the rest into on the risor? when the arrow is in the rest is the arrow centered in that hole ? thats really where the rest needs to be (thats the dead center of the risor) pick yourself up a bow square from any shop or cabelas something like that and set your nock point on the string. the square will get you right on and cost very little.

 

OK a bow square sounds good. So you are saying the bolt hole for the WB mounting bracket should line up with the whole in the WB? If so I need to go up a 1/4" or so. Could you tell me if I have the correct arrows in hand? They are Easton Axis 340Full Metal Jacket 11.1 GPI. 55lb bow....carbon core arrow....125gr point 31" OAL Arrow. I apprciate your respose very much!!!

Ok if your dl is around 30" your .340 are a bit stiff,for the # your shooting now i wouldnt worry about it to much just get your bow tuned the best it can and shoot away the arrows might fishtail a bit but you will be fine. my 13 year old shoots easton fatboys for 3d in a .500 spine and they are way stiff but he shoots 8" groups at 50 yards shooting 40#.

something for you to think about when it comes time for new arrows, them FMJ's are way heavy and you are gonna lose a ton of speed with them depending what your dl is you should go down to a arrow around 8 gpi and you will gain a ton of speed and still have plenty of KE to puch through the deer.

 

MY draw length is 28" or 29". See I asked the guy at the store what arrows I needed for 55lb draw and he said to use the 11.1gpi ones....pays to ask on here instead first I guess....THese are NEW arrows.....Thanks agian guys I will keep trying things......
