Default Big Red or 4-wheeler?

For hunting, I would like to know what do you think is better. A Honda Big Red 250 or a 1980's Honda 4-wheeler 250. I would also use it for trapping and fishing and getting around in the bush. Thank you

I would want a big red, its more manuverable in tight spots, and is purpously built for work, utillity

Default Big Red or 4-wheeler?

I had had both and like a fourwheeler for hunting in rough areas, they are more stable on rutted uneven ground. Also I feel better with the front rack loaded down with a heavy load than I did with the 3 wheeler. My brother has a Big Red he uses around the farm and has no plans to upgrade. He is always on smooth ground and does not need the four wheel stability.

I used to own a Big Red and they are a great machine. However, for hunting (or trapping), fishing and general purpose I think you'd be happier with a 4 wheeler. It's true that they can be much more maneuverable when riding trails but the amount of stability is an overwhelming difference between the two machines. Just ask me, I have two fractured vertebrae to prove that point. Seeing that you live in Canada you need to take the snow factor into account as well. The Big Red will have serious problems in the snow as it will tend to push the front wheel across the top of the snow instead of biting into it. It will be particularly more of a problem if you have hills to deal with. I realize you have to keep your cost down but if it's at all possible I would definitely recommend a 4x4 ATV. They made the 300's in the late 80's as well, so you might find one for a decent price. I found my 1995 300 4x4 last year for $2200 from a private individual.
I hope this has been helpful. If you have any more questions feel free to ask them.
