Default New from SW Ohio - Need advice

Hello everyone. Name is Eric, been riding quads and bikes since age of 5. Raced bikes for a couple years awhile back, but heart has always been with quads for sure.

Currently riding a 2002 400ex with full Curtis Sparks exhaust, filter, and jet kit, also have some Tag metal handlebars. Other than that, completely stock.

Purchasing a new quad within the next week actually, and torn between the LTR450 and the YFZ450. Have heard good and bad things about both, but the reliability issues of the YFZ450 have me slightly concerned.

Money is definitely an issue for me as far as getting a quad fixed, so I want something very reliable. I ride about equal trails/track, but probably spend more time on tracks because I know of more tracks around here than I do trails.

I am leaning towards an LTR450 for reliability reasons, but don't want to have to dump a bunch of money into it to make it a legit trail machine.

I'm about 5'10", 180.

What do ya'll think?

Also, if anyone rides in the SW Ohio area, hit me up. No one around here rides much

Welcome to the forums

Both are great quads, I would go with the YFZ450 more bang for your buck.

Thanks

And yea, i'm looking at getting an 07-08 model of either quad because my local dealer has great deals (trying to get rid of em).

I can get an 07 YFZ450 right now for 4999, or an 07 LTR450 for 5299, both brand new.

I do like the YFZ alot just heard some things about its reliability.

BUT, i've also heard that the finely tuned LTR450 is sensitive, and the engine compartment setup makes it somewhat difficult to work on.

Just all things I have read, I, unfortunately, haven't ridden either though
