Default New to ATV ownership

Hi!

Got some dumb questions.. Can't find the oil drain, oil filter, or the battery terminals on my 1988 Honda TRX 300.. Would appreciate assistance, as I need to charge a low battery, and I should change the oil on this second hand [great shape though] ATV before operating in our cold weather! Thank you, and Happy New Year!

Welcome to the forums.

As a rule, I'd change the oil on anything second hand just so you know it's been done, and when it will need done again.

Don't have that model so sure on the battery. Could be under the seat.

Part #9-10 is the oil drain. #6 is the oil screen.

Hi Scooter!
I too have turned moving targets into stationary ones many times. love my Savage Model 99 and my Winchester Model 70. I live in Maine, but spend a lot of time in TX, best people in the world as far as I'm concerned. Already looked under the seat for battery, no go.. Guess I'll have to lay down in the snow to check the uderside again for a suspended battery box or something. Thanks for the help, and Happy New Year! TRX300

Look for a battery box under one of the rear fenders on the frame. I'm sure someone that has one will post soon, and you'll get a little more accurate info.

Happy New Year to you as well.

Here's a link to the parts diagrams.

Look under the right rear fender for the battery.

Hey Scooter,

The diagram is a big help, thank you! Looks like a do-able place to hook up a charger.
