Just doing some research
Hey all,
Name is dusten(catchy screen name, eh?)
Anyways, im here doing some research. I've ridden street bikes for about 10 years. As a kid we had odyssey's and snowmobiles at the house.
I am looking at getting rid of my current bike to get a pair of quads for the wife an I. I bought my son a Yamaha TTr-50E last year and its kind of boring for him to ride alone, so I figured we'd join him.
wifey wants a sport quad, and based on her families experience she is leaning towards a 400 or 450 honda. I on the other hand know that I have issues with going fast(I own a lightning, have had 1 other lightning, super charged cobra, 3 sport bikes) and in my old age need to settle down a bit. So i am here researching utility quads. It seems to be a very nice site with tons of info. Thanks for having me.

Best all around size in my mind is the 500-550 cc quads. All but Kawasaki makes a 500 class quad. A 500 is a decent balance of fuel economy, power (you won't need more for pulling most trailers meant for quads), and speed. A typical 500 will be around a 55mph top speed. The 650s on up will do mid-60s and some of the 800 class and higher machines will do around 70! Polaris is a great all around machine with the most comfortable ride and great on board storage options, CanAm tends to be the fastest per cc and get good fuel economy in their cc ranges, Suzuki King Quads are a good all around quad for a decent price, Yamahas are great quads too, Hondas are super reliable but have one weird lack. They don't have a way of fully locking the front axle like all the others. Not a big issue unless you are in super nasty mud. Hondas tend to be pretty sporty due to a low height compared to others. Low height isn't good in deep water situations but not an issue otherwise. Kawasaki has the Brute Force which is a brute. Strong pulling engine. Very fast. Don't know a ton about Arctic Cats.

appreciate the welcomes.
I will look into the Can Ams, as i have no knowledge of them at all. I've ridden a few Polaris and other than the fact i wasnt used to an automatic i enjoyed the two I rode(400ish and a 600ish) But this was in 2002 so Im sure improvements have been made to them also.
