I couldn't agree more!...Thanks guys!...Up until about two weeks ago my boy had been riding a little Baja Racer (A.K.A Doodle Bug) mini bike around the yard and for the most part having a pretty good time...My wife had been after me to take the bike with us to her sister and her husbands to ride with their kids who have been riding quads for quite some time..Their oldest son who is the same age as mine had previously been racing his 50cc Yamaha and recently upgraded to a 90cc Outlaw (Nice looking quad!)....I didn't see putting around eating exhaust fumes all day from the outlaw or even the 50 for that matter much fun for the boy so my search began for something in my price range (very little) for him to ride the wheels off of...A friend of mine told me to check C.L and the first time i checked it we seen this little LT listed for $700.00...It was only 40 miles away so I drove over to check it out...The guy who owned it turned out to be a really nice guy...It was his when he was a youngster and had sat in his garage for a long time...He was part of the Big Brothers program so he decided to get it out and clean it up for the kids to ride around on...The kids got they're thrills for a couple years at the club but the gentleman i bought it from was moving away and had to get rid of it in a matter of a few days..I drove it up and down the alley and even though i was a motorcycle guy as a child...was pleasantly pleased with its performance and overall looks...I offered him $500 for it and I'm pleased to say he took it!...He was happy to see it go to a good home and I gotta tell you my boy is in hog heaven!..It's a 91 butt looks super clean for its age....starts at the tap of the button and flat out hauls butt with him on it...as a matter of fact....the wifes sister, husband and kids brought they're quads bye for a Mother's Day cookout...I was praying that his little $500 LT could somewhat keep up with the other kids on they're newer high dollar machines....SURPRISE!...He had that little two stroke pulling away out of every corner...I'm guessing tops out somewhere around 30...Does that sound about right?...After inspection the only thing that appears to not be stock is a Uni air filter...oil injectors plugged off to run a straight mix and that's about it....I bought some Boyeson Reeds to put in it but haven't yet...I hope it's something I can handle myself...maybe pull a couple rollers as well?...to cut down the rolling resistance and help get him gain a little more speed for some small local races with his friend(The Outlaw 90)I plan to change the gearing to 13/26 on a 428 pitch and use the #40 chain to utilize the half links..I may also go down a jet size I hear they tend to run a little rich....We have 2 inch wheel spacers on the front and are running all four rims flipped for a little more width....Kenda Scorpions on the back... stock i believe on the front...seems to push just a little in the turns but helps i think.....If he ends up liking this racing thing as much as it seems I hope to someday soon do the full blown Jack Moore Racing Motor if he'd be willing to do the work for us....I hear hes the man!....Any other cheap mods I can do to help the boy keep up ((
))until I can put together some coin for a real motor?...Thanks in advance!...See you on the trails!!!
