New from Massachusetts

Hey everyone, just bought a 2012 sportsman 500, having to trailer it up to NH and Maine for riding. A little bummed I had to register in both places, but now that it's over with, hoping to get to know a few people here and find some good trails near the borders to MA. Maybe Sanford this weekend!

you should be thrilled about reg'ing your atv in NH & Maine- both states deserve your reg money- as, both states embrace the atv community and offer atv services and trails- unlike massachusetts who wants a reg fee but has basically no where to ride them-
our group does a lot of riding in the NH & Maine area- it's great riding.
where are you planning to ride in sanford? off 109 near the airport?
welcome to the site.

That's where I hear is a good place to go so I will give it a shot! Just trying to nail down directions to get up there and should be no problem. It's good to know someone who is very familiar with the area, maybe I can join you guys one day for a ride. And yes, Massachusetts has basically NOTHING except far west, living in peabody makes that near impossible.
this is the official state atv map- basically gives you an idea. Each area has clubs and motels / lodges that have more detailed maps.

as you can see, not too much down in the sanford, wells, kittery area- just some local private trails.
we spend more time in NH at LMFT, pisgah, jericho and up in the white mountains in claremont- LMFT is just over the mass border, in the keene, nh area.
I should have my atv back from the dealer any day now (dps repair) and I'll be heading out for a ride- I'll PM you when I go- if you're interested you can come along and meet some of the guys.
Both Maine & Nh make it very easy to reg your atv- you can reg for maine on-line and print up a temporary one on the spot for $75 and NH reg can be bought at almost any gas station, store you pass while driving up to the trails- takes no time at all.
forget about massachusetts atv trails. mass treats atv'ers like drug dealers- I'm more than happy spending my money in NH & Maine!

You can't ride an ATV on any street in Massachusetts. They have 3 riding areas out in Western Massachusetts. Very few states allow ATVs to be ridden on public ways. They aren't really built for that. There are a few places in Maine and New Hampshire that allow riding on the streets but that is only as trail connectors or to be able to get to gas, food, and lodging.
