Default New outta Wichita Ks. I need some advice

Hello everyone.

Like it says in the title. Im new here out of Wichita Kansas. Happy to come acrossed the site.

I need some advice or suggestions. Growing up I always road dirt bikes on old trails down by the rivers where I grew up. It was something me and my brothers did every chance we got.

Now I have a son of my own (7 years old), and my parents game me this little chinese knock of 4 wheeler that doesnt run (50cc baja). The idea is to get it running and let my son have some fun on it.

So I was thinking about getting an atv for myself, but have never actually owned one so I thought I would come to the experts. Im looking for an older atv thats fairly easy to work on. I like doing things myself so I want something that has a good parts supply. Im guessing anything yamaha or honda (name brand) should fit that bill.
Im not really looking for a 4x4. Just something that I can take to a trail and enjoy with my boy and hopefully not have to worry to much about as he gets older.
Im also a big guy. 6'2 about 280lbs so I want something thats got plenty of go to move me around.

So if you were me, what would you be looking for? There is a Banshee here locally that needs some engine work. Im thinking about going to look at it, but wanted to see what you guys had to say first.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and looking forward to hearing your feedback.

If this is a question I should be asking somewhere else... Please let me know.

Welcome. If you haven't already tried it, post your question in the general ATV thread.
