How do I start racing
Hello
I'm trying to figure out if I want to start racing, I'm 16 and started riding last year so I'm still new I have a 2000 honda 400ex, I know I need like suspension, pipe, tires and stuff. But my question is that if I'm to old to start. I know there guys that have bin riding there whole life, but I'm pretty fast (compared to my friends) also what the best part are for not to much money, my parents said that they would help out but not everything. I'm also from the Netherlands so I'm not that sure how it works here.
Thank you!

Best bet, check with your local track and/or racing association and get a copy of the rules/classes for the type of racing you want to do. In general you will need a tether kill and nerf bars for the machine, and quality helmet/boots/goggles/chest protector for yourself. I wouldn't drop a fortune on upgrades to your ride until you have done a race or two. First, you don't know if you will like it. Second, you will quickly learn the weaknesses of your ride and what needs addressing. Most guys pick up more speed from quality suspension than motor work. You are not to old to get started. By the same token, don't put a lot of pressure on yourself to win or even podium. Just have fun with it.
