Default Hello

Hey everyone, just posting here as the forum asks. Last year I purchased a 2002 Yamaha 350 Warrior from my neighbour that was not running and was sitting for about 1-2 years in their garage. It had seen better days but we invested some money into it to get her running again and now she's running great.

This is how she looked when we purchased it:

We knew purchasing it that it had some problems:
  • Lots of missing bolts/screws for the plastics and head unit.
  • Front tires needed to be reseated on the beads.
  • Rear tires needed to be replaced entirely. (Rims were destroyed/bent beyond repair.)
  • Front guard/bumper is bent in slightly, but not a big deal. (No frame damage.)
  • Rear brake reservoir was ripped off and duct taped closed on the hose.
  • Battery terminals were ripped off and missing.
  • Battery was shot and had to be replaced.
  • Tail light housing is cracked and missing plastic, needs to be replaced.

After taking her in to get serviced we found out a few more problems that were not disclosed during the purchase:
  • Needed a new starter as the old one was half missing and destroyed.
  • Needed a new stator.
  • Needed a new carb kit.
  • Needed a new fuel tap gasket.
  • Needed a new fuel line and filter.
  • Needed new oil filter / cap / full oil change and cleanout.
  • Needed new rear brake pads.
  • Needed new gasket cover.

At this point shes riding great and sounds amazing for the condition she was in prior to being fixed up.

While I am not new to riding, I am new to owning an ATV. (Always rode a friends etc. in the past and never needed to purchase my own.) So I do have some questions I will be looking to ask in the near future in the appropriate section(s) of the forum. Hoping this forum is more lively than the dedicated Warrior forums as no one seems to post there much anymore.

For future fixes/upgrades I do plan to do a few things:
  • Replace the tail light housing / plastics.
  • Replace the chainguard housing / plastics.
  • Replace the chain.
  • Replace the sprockets.
  • Possibly paint / replace the overall plastics.
  • Replace the clutch in due time. Runs fine but its the same clutch from the previous owner so I'm sure its worn and could use some love.

Welcome to the forums.

The Yamaha section has a good amount of helpful folks when you bump into issues.
