I just talked to them monday and they said the CDI should be available within a few weeks, he knew I was anxiously waiting, but he never even mentioned The holeshot module, or the top end module, If he would have told me about it I would have ordered one and quit waiting for the CDI. Patience is not one of my virtues. Thanks for the info bfb650b2.

Letcher, do you have the link for the plans? I've got a soldering iron and some time on my hands.

The Holeshot module is the same as the Acceleration module from Canada. I have one and you can control the power easily. Rock crawling is no problem.

Hey guys,

I have one of the modules from Dale Brooks. His module has 4 wires, one power, one ground, one input from speed sensor and one output to cdi. The input wire reads the output from the speed sensor and switches off the unit at around 35 kph. This is what eliminates the top speed loss. The 3 wire units only send a signal to the cdi and cannot read from the speed sensor, is activated all the time and this causes the top end loss. This can be good thing in some ways. Novakaw650 hooked up a switch to his that allows him to turn it on and off. This way he can experience no top end loss and has the benefit of leaving it off if someone else is riding his quad. Myself, I don't like messing with a switch and like the unit to do the work, therefore the Brooks unit works great for me. Besides, in stock form these bikes are no slouch and do you really want an inexperienced rider messing with your pride & joy.

Cost? Sure they probably only require $10 worth of parts and maybe an hour to build. But you have to give the guys credit for figuring out how to get them to work. I couldn't have done it. I only paid $100 can. for mine and to me it's worth every penny. I've spent lots more on other mods and didn't see anywhere near the performance gains. Don't look at what they might cost to build, look at what you gain from the mod. The power to $ ratio on this item is well worth it.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

I've always run premium. Another side benefit of the module is cold starting - they start quicker and run smoother when cold.

cueball,

I've run nothing but 87 octane since I brought it home. I will probably switch to 92 octane when I get the diamondg cdi but for know everything works fine.

Nova,

We have a rally up here in Meteghan sometime in June. Last year we had over 1000 quads attend, what a blast. Maybe yourself and a few friends would be interested in attending. Let me know and I'll find out the exact date.

Let me know; if I'm not working I'd like to go. Our club is having an ATV challenge (obstacle course race - slaloms, jumps) on May 25th in Bridgewater. It will be a qualifier with the final taking place on July 27th. Good money prizes, two classes - sport machines and utility machines. It's a great time, very competitive and some talented riders. Your machine sounds like it's set up well for an event like this. Get a big truck and grab some of your buddies and their machines and come on up, you'd have a blast!!

Man that sucks. May 25th is the same day for another rally up here. One with not much mud and lots of sites. I promised to take the kids with their 90s on that run because it's not so rough. Figures, I would have loved to come to that. Oh well, maybe we can come down in July and watch you kick some butt. Thanks for the invite.
