stupid question
Steering geometry of some machines is such that a bump changes the direction of the wheel a little. It generally feels like your wheels turned one way even though you never moved the handlebars.
My car does it and I hate it. My truck (fords rule) never did it. I don't have the truck anymore. I had the choice to keep the quad or the truck, but there was no point in having the quad without the truck. So I now have to bum rides off people to go riding until I can find a cheap truck.
Basically, when you look at tie rods, if they aren't the same length as the suspension arms, you could have bump steer. I think that for a short arm-long arm suspension, the tie rod length would need to be some where in between the arm length.
Polaris has something on their predator that reduces it. Most quads are designed for maximum possible bump steer, with the tie rods going right to the steering shaft and being as long as possible. They usually do this to keep costs weight down. Nobody wants to have bump steer.

stupid question
Right now I would settle for a chevy. I would be happy with anything.
My car is too small to tow. I picked up an 87 Bronco for free. It runs well and don't smoke (almost 200,000 miles) but it is too rusted for me and I don't have a trailer. My friend thinks he can get me a fair looking truck for a $1000.
