Had a little mishap with the 650 this weekend.

My beloved 650 had a little turbulance on Sunday. I was out for the weekend camping and quading with a bunch of buddys. The Kawis were out numbering everything so it was pretty cool. Of course the 650 was king. Anyways I was going into a big mudhole when all of a sudden I heard a high pitched knocking sound and proceeded to get very stuck. I had to get winched out backwards. The belt was slipping alot so I couldn't power it out. I get it out, let the water and black mud drain off. I let it run in nuetral to let the belt dry, but every now and then I would hear a knocking. When I would put it in gear to go the knocking would get worse. When I would shut the engine off it kncked loud as it spooled down. When I started it it was really loud until I revved it up a bit to engage the clutch. UH OH. It would drive fine once moving. It get back to camp. Pull out the tools and yank off the CVT cover. Guess what I found. A 1" hole and the cover pushed in that was rubbing on the primary clutch. OUCH. I guess a stick had come up through the inside of the fender and punctured the cover. DAMN. So I broke out the trusty duct tape, lightly hammered out the dent, cleaned out the loon poop and away I went.
The moral of the story is you never know what's in the mud.
By the way the Bearclaws were outstanding in the deep mud. A buddy has the 589's and he was stuggling sometime where I walked right through.

Yeah, I agree on the bearclaws. I had it out this Sunday and it was going thru the most. Of course we all got stuck but the Prairie power and the Bearclaw traction was great. Wish I could post pics but with the enviro freaks I won't.
