Default Jetting KFX-700 HMF duals

I put my duals on last week; went riding this weekend..142F/145R mains, and my quad seemed to sputter at full throttle. Almost like a rev limiter, I am at sea level, no airbox mods, and after riding yesterday pulled both plugs and they were slightly tan/black. this thing seems like it will really scream once I get my jetting squared away, I ordered dial-a-jets lastnight when I got home just out of frustration. today i put 140F/142R jets in and it sounded better(less sputter @ WFO) I don't know if I should run it this way in fear of a top end meltdown???? Any Thoughts. Help me help the V.

I can't really help you too much on your jetting issue. But try this, there is a section where you can talk directly to HMF. Ask them and see what they think you should try. Ask HMF

If you get the exhaust and do not jet properly for the increased air flow, you engine will run lean. This will create heat problems, and worse yet, engine problem.

About 600 bones with "hunter's baffles", jets, and spark arrester. Sounds quite loud without the baffles, I like it a lot; once I get some fatter jets it'll rock.

to finish your question about performance, the duals made a noticeable difference from bottom to about 7/8 throttle, I read up on jetting Keihin carbs tonight and it sounds like I need to fatten up my main jets...quick response and great sound I might try 145/148:152/155 I'll keep you posted.

MudFoot

You need more fuel .... and AIR. I have 142/145 jets , plus the dial a jets on max ..... and it took
two holes in the air lid to ballance it. (used the sliding gate type from the dial a jet people ). It runs
purrrrrrrrrrrrfect. No hesitations, no coughing, no spitting, just smooth power all the way.

It does make huge difference in power ..... you are going to like it.

Tell me about your experence with the Elkas ???????

Try opening your airbox and buy some radiator hose to replace the snorkle and run 160,165 jets it works great at 1000" above sea level.
