Default Question about '02 and '03 P650

I was told I bought an '02 Camo P650 a few weeks ago. I was also told the hitch came standard on this quad but if its an '02 and hitch's didn't come standard on them till '03 then whats up? The hitch was not put on by the dealer.

I know of only one way to find out if I have an '02 or an '03 model and that is the air filter. Can someone show me some pics of an '02 VS an '03 air filter? Any other way to determine what model year I have? I hear people talk about the jerking engine braking on the '02s but not the '03s and I don't have that jerking motion during engine braking.

Thanks for the help.

You won't need a picture .... the 02 is a flat paper element... just lays in the top of the box.

The 03 is a wire basket deal with wing nuts.

Correction, the 2002 element is foam (not paper) with a furry top coat. It might be considered a dual element filter, but not in the same consideration as a TwinAir.

I guess I forgot about it being foam .... I have had the K&N too long !!

But it is flat pad type of deal ... much different than an 03. can not be confused one for the other

Default Question about '02 and '03 P650

If you bought it from a dealer you should just make your deal, then tell them when its all said and done. (oh and throw the hitch in with it) they wont loose the deal over a hitch. I had them throw in the hitch, Tire slim, and 20% off anything else I bought there that day. That was after I had the best price in town established.

Default Question about '02 and '03 P650

Hi guys,

First post to this forum...very informative..gotta question for ya's re: difference between the '02 and '03 P650's.....the air box... and hitch being an option....is this the ONLY difference ??? what about the mention of jerky engine braking ??

We just bought (well sorta) an '03 P360, and after the first 10 hours, i'm wishing we should have got the 650...after having a fourtrax 300 4x4 for the past 10 years, this 360 ROCKS !!! BUT, when riding 2-up, it's hurt'n...not even as much top end as my old 300 honda ( although she's got some goodies done to her too). So i'm gonna try out a 650 demo later this week. The dealer has a new '02 Camo 650, I can get for a sweet deal, so i'm wondering what the difference is in the two years.

thanks for all and any responses............

Default Question about '02 and '03 P650

The other difference is the programming of the engine braking, nothing major. My '02 P650 works awesome! Camo is sweeet. The difference between an '02 and '04 is much different, its got a bigger motor, a 700 now. Its also got a rack re-design and I think the front end is different. Get the '02 Camo if its alot cheaper than an '04 you will love it, the power is so incredible.

Default Question about '02 and '03 P650

OK fellas....I need some help here...I test drove the '02 650 demo today...and man...I'M IN LOVE !!! very nice power band....so i'm definately getting a 650 and the 360 is going back...but here's my dilema... I can get either an '02 camo (new) or an '03 green (new), for basically the same price, but I can't decide which one to get. My only reservations are the talk of jerky engine braking on the '02's. Can someone tell me what the difference is in the 2 years, as far as the KEBC system goes ?? I'm leaning towards the '02 camo, but this KEBC redesign has me wondering if the '03's might be better in that department. The only real problem I had today with the testdrive was i'm not super impressed with the rear suspension as compared to the 360. It'll be so stiff sometimes that it feels like there's no suspension at all...and at other times..it's so soft, it's like there's no dampening there what-so-ever..worse comes to worse...i'll just throw in a 360 rear shock if I don't like it down the road...Anyways..sorry to ramble...I guess all I wanna know is if I should have any reservations on the '02 KEBC system ?

Jeff
