Jetting High Altitude
Joelm,
In order for any one to answer that question, you need to tell us what altitude you are currenty at. I am here in utah @ about 5000 ft and ride up to 10,000 ft on occasion. The dealer that sold me mine, put in 130f- 135r jets and I am way to lean. I am going to be changing to 135f- 140r this week. I hope this helps.

Do a search for "quick jet ?", about 1-2 weeks old. Wolley supplied kawi's suggested jetting by elevation. Not that my dealer paid any attention, I was jetted 3k higher than it should have been. If you have to rejet- don't sweat it. It's increadibly simple to do. You should be able to do it on the trail if absolutely necessary. The only must have that not everyone has is a set of off-set screwdrivers to get to the front carb screws. And you can get the jets for about $3 each from catalogs, about $8 from the dealer.
BTW, 10k' is 132 130 combo, will be factory lean.

The best thing you can do when you go to rejet the first time is replace the phillips head screws with allen head. 4mm I think. Take one with you to the hardware store. Probably won't find the exact length so buy em long and cut them to lenghth. Sure makes the next rejet easier!

I took my V-Force to Duck Creek, UT this weekend for the first time and can tell you that it was tremendously rich. Our cabin is at 8700' and some of the trails we ride go over the 10K mark. All was okay if just putting around, but if you got into it, it just wanted to miss and chug at anything over 2/3 throttle. I think it was even starting to foul a plug which surprised me! Never foulded a plug on my 4-strokes. I would suggest you definately prepare to rejet a little leaner if you want to keep some of the power you are used too. Someone on this forum was posting about the Attak (sp?) auto richener/leaner that is used on snowmobiles. It adjust for temp and altitude changes automatically and sounds like it may work for those of us that change altitude drastically and dont want to change jets all the time. I know in the Las Vegas area the stock jetting is fine right now - no mods, but I too will eventually have to make a change. Well good luck and let us now the best set up at that altitude. Later. Ken

If i were you i would rejet to either a 135 front 140 rear as trailburner suggested, or go with a 132 front and a 138 rear. Either way you better rejet! If you don't your prairie is gonna run like S#%^!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I really gotta get my service manual and keep it down by my computer)
132 front and 138 rear is for 6000 feet to 10000 feet (im 95% sure)
Oh yea where are ya headed???

My Prairie 650 is jetted 132f / 138r for the altitude range of 4900 to 8200 ft. 100% sure.
With the DG Snorkle & a Twin-air filter, my plugs are running perfect & plenty of power thru-out the power band.
All of my riding here in Northern NM is from the 7000 to 10,000 ft range with a avg. of 9000 ft.
Come July 4th, I'll be in even higher elevation in Colorado but still feel that this jetting should do, from past experinces with the 130f / 132r jetting, 8200 to 11,500ft.
Hope this info helps you out.
