Holeshot module (my results)
#11
CVKP650, I dont remember the date off hand but it was about a week before they actually had them available and When I ordered I requested next day air.
scotia650, I think your right, I beleive there is a difference between manufactures, it sounds like the Canadian version is a bit more snappy and probably the way to go if thats what your looking for, and the holeshot is probably a bit more user friendly. It would sound logical to get different results from different frequencies. and also after trying it out again today I believe your right on it running better after its heated up a bit. That doesnt seem right to me but I cant argue with results.
Biggerisbetter, you are correct on the detonation issue. I would recomend using higher octane fuel, It might cost an extra dollar at the pump but its worth it.
Prairie633, Im not trying to bash the company or say that it is a ripoff, I agree It does add performance and I also said it IS worth the money. On the same token, I believe the people that read this forum like to see honest opinions without the hype. In all fairness I did say the more mods you have you will see bigger gains. I do appreciate the fact that there are companies willing to make these products for utility vehicles. Its just that I know alot of people would be disappointed installing the module not knowing what to expect thinking its going to be their new rocket. I have no connections with any dealer, manufacturer, distributer, ect. So therefore If I learn something or try something, I will share it and give 100% unbias results and I do believe its appreciated.
VT prairie, powerwise yes the high range will give you as much power as you were used to in low. On the other hand the belt wear in high will always be greater than in low. If it is just you with no extra weight or on real steep terrain high will give you more than enough pull without excessive belt wear.

My machine with the module on will flip itself upside-down within 15 feet. (On pavement, with traction, of course). No exaggeration!! You will only feel the difference off-idle or at very low speeds. If you hit the throttle hard at 5 MPH you may feel no difference. It's built to give you the monster holeshot.

scotia650 or novakaw650, Where did you get your module? I might blow another $100 just to see the difference in the modules. I would hook them both up to the switch and basicly do a side by side comparison. It sounds like the Canadian module has more kick to it. If I was a patient person I would just wait for the new CDI. (but Im not).

hey im guessing that it is hooked up right, i checked and double checked with the directions and besides: can someone confirm this thought, if the module was not hooked up correctly the bike would run terribly or not at all because you would have no speed signal??????????????????????

biggerisbetter,
It does advance the timing but my module shuts down after 35k and doesn't effect topend at all. Some have also hooked the 3 wire models to a switch to get the same results.
rivermud,
I think that every 650 responds to the module differently. My friends and I have 3 650s each with a module and none of them respond the same. Mine is like NovaKaw650's, pin the throttle with traction and you'd better be quick to respond or your gonna be wearing it for a face ornament. Another one doesn't wheelie as well but will tear the tires off of it. The third is not as strong as the other two but is still a noticeable improvement. Go figure. I still think that for the money spent it is an awesome mod.
Ginchy,
I hooked mine to the accessory fuse so that if I had a short it would pop the fuse and not burn something out. I tried pulling the fuse to disable the module and the bike ran like crap. It will run but a noticeable difference. Maybe you've got a bad module.

I expected a little more from the holeshot module too, because of the switches and the warning for experienced riders only. Mine acts like what Novakaw650 described for his. It will flip over backwards in high gear from a dead stop or very slow, if you can get the traction. It is very controllable though. I've been having fun doing wheelies. I think with the holeshot and topend modules together, it should be awesome. I'm going to order the top end module as soon as it comes out.
Nice work D.G.

Ditto on all the above.................
When I hooked up my holeshot, rode out to the street, put on my helment, and braced my self for what I thought to be hell on 4 wheels ( or actually with the holeshot I thought only 2 wheels). But as many things in life, this let me down.......................now don't get me wrong I still felt an increase in power, but lets put it this way....no neck brace required!!
I did as others did and kept flipping my switch, I unhooked this switch totally and just ran the wires direct, and still no neck brace required. I do understand that each quad is different, but come on??
Does anyone think that for instance with my bike, with little increase with the holeshot, would the completely new CDI change much, or am I just stuck with this ol hunk a crap ( that can pretty much beats anything on the trails, in the mud holes, and anything else you can throw its way). JK about hunk a hunka.
Anymore feedback would be great as you guys start installing yours.

I think the people who are raving about the wicked power the module delivers have several other mods to their quads as well. I'm waiting for the CDI, it will offer more performance on a stock bike and more reliability.

Brent is right about the extra mods, I have several on my 650. My opinion is that the module offers a higher $ to performance increase ratio than anything else I added to my bike. I saw a bigger difference with the $100 module than I did with an $800 pipe. No it's not gonna tear your arms off or distort your face from the extra gforce but I'm pretty satisfied. If your looking for eyewatering performance then maybe a chat with Alltoys is in order. Be prepared to spend a little more than you did for the module though. Just my 2 cents.
