Default Over Heating...WTF!!!

I've been goin' thru the same thing. Last w.e. I tried some "custom designed" inner fender flaps, to block the mud being flung into the rear side of the radiator. Guess what.... THEY WORK! Well, it worked yesterday, in WNF, S.E. Ohio! I'll get pix, and send to NYROC, so he can add 'em to his site. My fan ran VERY LITTLE, yesterday. I am convinced the flaps work.
I am also going to check out the bilge pump. I have one on order. Will report to NYROC on this, too.

We got the perfect kit for you here at HL, its called a rad. washer, it comes with a bilge pump, hose, end for the hose, and wiring so you can just plug it into your acc. socket and sit the pump in the water and hose it down. Another thing to consider is one of our temp gauges too, u know when that hot light comes on, its too late, u can monitor the temp with the gauge, and it comes with everything you will need to hook it up. All water cooled bikes suffer from mud in the rad. and some are worse than others.

V700-- Thanks for the tip, I am aware of HL's kit.
BTW--- A friend of mine got to look at Mike Penland's P-650, and it's anti-mud prep this weekend in Millfield Oh, GNCC races. He came away with some ideas for me.

How big is the radiator washer kit. I'm trying to get an idea of the dimensions of the pump. I'd like to be able to pack the whole setup in a little carry case and store in my rear seat.

Could you share some of those ideas with us?????? I'd be interested in any anti-mud preps that could be done to our machines?

Penland places screens in front of his rad to prevent muck from hitting it. The screens do not completely cover the inlet, but alternate (like a waiting line in a bank) so that air will still get by if they clog.

I am using the 03 lower rad cowl, it helps keep mud out.

TRX, I am anxious to see pics of the inner mud flaps.

I kept looking for the lower rad cowl on my bike, but I could never see it. I seen on your site that you recommended changing the cowl with the 03 one, but I could never find this part on my bike to change it. So one day, I showed my buddy the picture on your site and he said oh yeah, I have that cowl on my bike. So he showed me where it was. The reason I couldn't see it was because the dealer removed it when he installed the superwinch on my bike. With your homemade winch bracket, do you have plenty of clearance between the winch and the radiator cowl? The superwinch bracket prevents some of the mud from hitting the radiator, but I don't think it does as good of a job and the original cowl.

I have the kawi winch mount plate, not custom. I welded a tow hook to it.

I just went to www.buykawasaki.com to the the cowl p/n for the 03, and ordered it from ronayers.

Both the 02 and 03 cowls fit with a winch plate installed. They fit perfectly, either year, vice versa.

The people at your dealership should be fitted with snorkles and used as to fill deep mudholes at ATV jamborees. That was dumb of them to take that off.

So this isn't your bike?

http://home.attbi.com/~thumper17/Superwinch.html

The dealership had to take the radiator cowl off, or the winch doesn't fit on the bracket. It sits so high that the cowl would be in the way.

This is a quote from the article on your site.

"Secondly, installing this high requires you to remove factory air dams/ mud deflectors"

Kawidan-- I'll get pix sometime this week ,a get them off to nyroc's 650 site.
I am assuming that this radiator cowl is the black plastic "shelf", just in frt. of the raditor. Does the 'o3 one come clear up to the radiator? The 02 didn't, there is a 1" gap,I duct taped the area closed and MUCH less mud got up on the front of thee rad.!
I also heat taped the frt. pipe up to the 1st heat shield. result:MUCH less heat on my LH shin!!!!!!
Later, Mike.
