Just installed 2500 Warn Winch...got a question
#1
I just got my Warn U2500 winch installed and I have a question I though you guys might be able to answer. How can I protect the switch leads on the winch when it is submerged in water, or for that matter, is there anything that I would need to do? What about using it even, if it is submerged? Please keep in mind this is a newbie here, never installed/used a winch before, so be nice.
I plan on installing a rocker switch soon, but just mounted the "oven style" that came with it on the side of the winch itself for now. Any ideas appreciated.

Forgot to ask also...I got the Kawi hardware kit for installation, and it mentioned installing the "contactor" near the battery. The winch nor the kit came with such a device. What is it and why would I need it?

If you have one of the older set ups that doesn't come with a solinold they mount the switch on the rack up by the handle bars. I wouldn't put the switch that low to the ground it could get damaged also. Hope this helps.

I put my contactor on the drop down bar under the seat. It is high up but a little hard to get to. Someone has pictures on this forum of their installation or look at nyrocs data base.
Seems to be a few 650's around Corinth.....

Thanks for the replies! We are actually in Michie, but I got it in Corinth. We got a few good places to ride in Michie and Stantonville...still learning all the routes. I am sure the guys at the Kawi dealer in Cornith can tell you of a few as well that I don't know about. I am good friends with one of the mechs there.

that younger mechanic up there seems pretty cool, i am guessing he is in his 20's. i can't remember his name. i think i kinda got him in trouble one day tho, he pulled a kfx 400 out for me to test ride, and he didnt have me sign the safety release form or put a helmet on, and that connie lady came outside and kinda got on to him a little. she is just a little pushy i think. i told her the first time i went in there that i was just looking around and after i rode it that day, every time i saw her after that in store or somewhere, she was asking me if i had talked to the bank yet or what did they say. i guess she's just trying to make a living tho.
