I was running another 650 and we was going about 58 and mine shut down. It will start but it only will go about 5 mph. It starts cutting out and backfiring. Is it blown up or what?

It's the most likely the belt failure switch. Go to Nyroc site and see how to check/adjust the belt and reset the switch.

That was the problem. Where is the best place to buy a belt?

Have you looked at the belt? It might have just tripped the switch, dont always mean it needs to be replaced, maybe just adjusted.

Yes, I looked at the belt. It was coming apart, there was nylon looking strings hanging from the belt, and there was some of it stuck on the switch.

The Kawasaki shop manual states to replace the entire clutch cover assembly if the belt fails and the switch trips. I'm sure this is just there way of not having to inspect the cover itself for cracks etc.

I believe the only place to get a belt is from the dealer or Kawasaki. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

As of right now I think you are correct. I dont know of any aftermarket belts for the prairie yet. But you might check into putting the 360 or 700 belt on it, I hear these can fit and are much better belts.

www.ronayers.com has belts way cheaper than your dealer.
