I am new here so please bear with me. I just purchased 2 brand new '01 Lakota Sports for my wife and myself. What would be the best way to add a bit more power, without jetting and piping? We do alot of trail riding, and I don't want to add alot of noise to the quad, just a bit more oomph.

I woudl bump up your front sprocket one tooth! and then look into getting a K&N filter that fits into your stock airbox!
Then the next best thing is pipe and re-jet!

I would have to agree with Mojavekid on the mods. I have a lakota and it makes much of a difference with the pipe and jetting. You should really consider it . It gives it the boost it needs
