My brother has a bayou 250 and i toped it out at 47mph on the road. My quad is the lakota sport in the pics, don't have any of his quad.

 

My old Bayou 300 hit 48 on the dry lake bed, but man it was revved out and sounded like it was gonna blow![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]

 

my bayou will go about 48. it will beat a 97 quad king 500 in a drag!!!!!! i swear!!!! im not lying!!!! but the drag was only about 100ft stretch

 

They're pretty peppy little bikes. My dad has 2, and they'll run pretty close w/a Rancher. The Rancher just tops out a little bit higher. My dad has had his ~45. My fav. thing about them is that you can throw them around pretty easily.

 

you guys freakin kill me!! I've ran out of throttle on a KFX700 on asphalt. I'm certain thats over 60mph. well, i couldnt see anyways, my eyes teared so bad it was filling up my ears. Don't worry, i wear a helmet most of the time.

 

The '03 250 Bayou i bought for my kids goes about 43-45mph. You are right is peppy and fun to ride. i enjoy getting of my 650 and jumping on the little 250 once in a while.

I don't see why everyone is wanting a bayou to go fast its a hunting four wheeler it was built to ride on the trails if you want a fast four wheeler get a racing four wheeler

Suzuki did not have a 500 4x4 until 1998 called the Quadrunner, then in 2001 they added the 500 Quadmaster then in 2002 to 2007 the 500 Vinson.
After that it was the 450KQ in 2007 and later punched out to a 500KQ in 2009.

The largest KQ before 2007 was a 300KQ that was around since the early 90s.

 

A Bayou, a Honda Recon or a Suzuki Ozark all top out just under 50 mph. I've owned the latter 2 and the Ozark is a little quicker since it has a bit more hp than either of the other 2. They're not designed to be super fast as handling gets a bit sketchy at top speed on these small machines. They're meant to be small and manuverable and that's why people buy them, not to mention less expensive than bigger, more powerful atvs. You can buy them used many times for $1000 or less and for many people, that's all they can afford to spend. Enjoy them for what they are and don't try to compare them with something bigger, its just not a fair comparison.
