Mojave Speed?
#2
Depending on the size of the rider they go anywhere from 50 to 55 mph stock. They will not beat a Blaster but will run with them pretty well. I am a pretty big guy and my Mojave pulls me around rather quickly and I would guess that I am obtaining a top speed of around 50.

I agree with TeamGreen. It's an excellent quad for trails. I have a 13 tooth front sprocket and .040 over piston and I've been clocked around 60-63 and I'm 6'2" 280. So place a 180lb rider on there and you could squeeze out a few more mph.
I'm waiting for my CobraJet exhaust to come in (back ordered).

I am 6'2 150 so I guess it could get me where want to go quick enough. I would probably put a silencer and get some sprockets. SO I could get it goin good enough for me without goin too far over my budget. Also one more question why is it liquid cooled when it is only a 250? That kind of confused me. Thanks.

if I were you I would save 1000.00 and buy a blaster, or spend a little more and get a 300ex. The mojave is a smooth jumper, and a nice trail bike, but can be difficult to start when hot or wet. I had a couple of mojave's quite a few years back. I bought them for my wife to ride. This months issue of dirtwheels magazine has a nice little "shootout" article between the mojave and 300ex. I agree with most of what they say about the mojave. Beware of the kawasaki mojave air filter. It is of poor quality, and located in a difficult to service location. JMHO

It is liquid cooled to keep the heat down so it can run longer when it's hot and produce the same hp without decreasing hp liie on Blaster or a 300ex. It just makes the Mojave that much better. I have a 1987 that has a Cobra JET exhaust(the best!!), 41 tooth rear sproket, UNI pod filter, Razr tires, Wiseco ceramic coated piston. It will easily out run a piped blaster and 300ex. I weigh 145 pounds.

I do agree with you about the air filtration setup. Kawi could have made the Mojave with a removable seat and placed a conical shaped filter under the seat. But, They get paid the big bucks to make those kinds of engineering decisions! True be known, less than .5% of the bike has changed since 1987! And most of the time all that changed was the colors!! Anyway, someone had made mention of the sprockets. I SHOULD WARN YOU!!! I placed a 13 on the front and a 41 on the rear. IT WOULD NOT TOP OUT. It bogged down everytime. NO MATTER WHAT JET I PLACED IN THE BIKE. I do stress that about the jetting. I run a supertrapp IDS2 and went from a 132 main to a 145 (and all the sizes in between) and it didn't make a bit of difference on top end. The bike simple does not have the power (without getting into the engine.) I placed my factory 43 tooth back on the rear and left the 13 on the front. It seems to handle that pretty well. Four stroke tech has the 330cc bore kit...It sounds kinda tempting!!!!!
Hope this helps,
