Default My V lost to a kfx 400

I was riding last weekend and we decided to race a few times. One has a 650 prairie, and the other has a kfx 400. I would get them both out of the hole but the 400 would catch me at 200 yards a pass me with not alot of problem. I don't know if it's just my bike or what. They are both bone stock. I wieght 210 and he is about 190. I did the easy break in thing and had the service done at the dealer. He broke his in by running it hard the day it came off the truck. My bike feels lazy on top. Any help with my bikes performance would be a big help. Have they came out with a cdi box yet?

So is it better to run your atv harder when you get it or is it better to break it in easy.

I found I had the same result when my Z was stock.
The v would get me out of the hole and then I would pass it around 4th gear.

Ricksv, if you are drag racing 200-400 feet then the V should win most races against the KFX/Z400 (I have both quads)......but in 200 YARDs he is gonna catch you and pass you because the V does not have the top end.......at least it does not have the top end YET. A lot of use are working on tweaking our V's with various mods right now. I also have a Banshee with Dual FMF's bored 60 over that I can smoke in 200-400 ft races....but given enough distance, I think it would blow my V away because it has so much top end.

In time I think there will be solutions to the top end problem. Until then, just ride and have lots of fun!

It is better to break your quad in slow as it states in almost all the owners manuals. Breakin it in slow helps seat the rings better and it's what i did with mine

I raced a stock Z-400 yesterday twice in a drag race about 600 feet on hard dirt. First time, the front end of the V came up real hard and I had to let off. This caused the Z to get about a 2 quad length lead out of the holeshot. I ended up walking him down and beating him by about a quad length. The next race, my friend (who is about 50 pounds lighter than me) jumped on my V and with a flawless holeshot, beat the Z by about 5 quad lengths.

Both quads stock. I don't think a Z can outrun my V Force on either holeshot or top end stock from my experience yesterday. I think a piped / jetted Z would beat a stock V if setup right though.
