Default 2000 Lakota- carbon on spark plugs-sluggish

Thanks in advance of any help you can give me.
I have a 2000 Lakota that I bought used. I have it about a year.
In 1st or 2nd gear, moving along trails slowly, it tends to load up and stall.
I checked the plug and it is carboned up big time. New plugs help for awhile.
I'm using a hotter plug. Friends have checked the compression and it isn't great. Around 100 psi...
Once I get it moving it runs great and really flies. I would never know the compression is low if it wasn't for the bogging down in slow speeds. I have also been told that the carb. might need work.
Is the compression the cause of the slow speed studders or is it the carb needing work?
Thanks again!
Jim

Does your bike tend to get really hot when it slows down in speed? If so check out the recent post that is titled the lakota stays hot. It has info about the carb. My lakota got hot and slowed down also but when I was on 4th or 5th. Hope this helps a bit. If not, you may just need carb work. Good luck

My quad doesn't seem to be very hot but then again I don't know how hot it should be. My major problem is the poor throttle response in 1st or 2nd gear (mainly slow trail riding), the bike either stalls out or sputters until it gets going. In 3rd or higher gears and I'm moving along pretty good, the bike hauls ***. Like I said in my last post, the spark plug is really carboned up. That is the reason for the lousy performance. But what is the cause of that?
On a compression check...what is the min. PSI for this quad?
Thanks, Jim
