i have a clamp-on, on my lakota. i just got lucky and had one in my garage that fit but to find the right size measure the opening of your carb then when your ordering it get a filter that has the closest inside diamiter to the measurment on your carb. most clamp-ons will close about 3/8 inch smaller than the listed size.

I bought the clamp on off of denniskirk.com , ill send you the product number for the filter so all you have to do is type it in and youve got it, my engine came with the crankcase tube and filter, its a K and N and youll need some tube to go inbetween ill look for a product number for that too

when you do get the filter youll have to rejet, to do the jetting you have to look at the spark plug after each jet size changing im copying and pasting the color chart from another forum, this chart refers to what the middle part of the spark plug looks like
White or no color - LEAN (Bad News) - increase jet size
Dark Black - very, very rich; drop jet size
Medium brown - rich, drop jet size
Medium brown with some light spots - rich, drop jet size
Kinda turning from dark to light tan - closer, drop jet size
Mostly light tan - drop one size, you're pretty close.. see to how it feels
95% light tan - the way you want it!
with the jetting correct you should be able to rev in all gears moving and not have a soft spot, a spot at which the throttle sort of seems absent. When i bought the clamp on i had to trial an error to see which jet worked the best and the jet size that worked best for me was either 138 or 136 but this is with the clamp on filter and the white brothers E-series pipe. So if you have no other modifications then i would buy around 3 jets ranging from 134-138, the best way to do it is by 2's JMO, so i would get 134,136,138. One of these jets aught to work fine and as for the measurement for the UNI filter would be 2 1\4 in. if your ordering from denniskirk.com then the part number would be 30787. the price listed is 13.99
hope this helps

K and N filters , to me, seem like a "pay for the name" type thing, i mean a UNI filter 2 stage filter is half the price and atleast as good if not better, not trying to diss anyone with a K and N , but when i was limited on funds i chose the UNI , the size would be 2 1/4 inch, i tihnk it can reach 2 inches compressed , so it would work, i beleive i gave the part number tho, hope this helps, also, if your going for the look of the K and N, you wont really see it when all the plastic is installed, if you still want the K and N talk to blackksf, he knows more than me on that, BTW my UNI filter has held up great!!, can even get some outerwears that help filtration even more

lol........well the part number for the clamp on UNI at denniskirk.com is 30787 and i dont know what the number is for the outerwear, you really dont need one if the filter is properly oiled, the way you clean it is, there are 2 parts a regular black filter that is connected to the boot at the end and a red filter that does over top of the black one, from the outside its red and black from the inside there is a spring inside the filter itself, inside the black filter, this allows the whole assembly to be compressed for cleaning an other things, first all you do is take off the red filter and clean it and oil it, then you oil the black filter and squezze it to get the access out, hope this gives a little insight, also i dunno the number for the crankcase but ill look for it, ill post the number again because my computer screws up when i do more than 1 thing

I just ordered the uni filter from dennis kirk $19.99 with shipping. I couldn't find a pre filter but I bet a pair of pantyhose will work just fine. With the airbox gone, stageII filter and a DG big O exhaust im hopping my wifes bike will be fun enough for some of the guys we ride with (when their rigs break) I will also be adding the 13tooth sprocket.
